Kodak u-turn as it announces it WILL bring back old-fashioned film almost five years after axing it for good

 

Ektachrome – dubbed the gold standard by photographers – will return to shelves this year

 

Kodak is bringing back old fashioned film after demand unexpectedly shot up.

 

Almost five years after killing off its top notch Ektachrome film, the company has announced it will be back on shelves this year.

 

Ektachrome – dubbed “the gold standard” by photographers – was the film of choice for glossy magazines like National Geographic for its vibrant colours, tones and quality.

 

The revival follows a string of retro comebacks from vinyl records and hostess trolleys to fashion and sweets as nostalgic baby boomers long for a taste of their childhood while Millennials rebel against the digital age.

 

Camera buffs will be thrilled to learn of Kodak’s U-turn and Steven Overman president of the Consumer and Film Division said: “We are seeing a broad resurgence of excitement about capturing images on film.
